Why is gmail still in beta? is there a specific milestone to get out of beta for any software/service?

BETa is the comsumer trial stage of software testing. it gives the developer a chance to see how the software functions and allows the consumer to test and supply feedback. this stage is important because the consumer will use the software as they deem necessary which may not be a way the software company intended. so several bugs will come out it allows the manufactuer to tweak the software b4 a final version is released. and best of all for the manufactuer you the consumer using the trial version do all this testing reporting and suggestion making FOR FREE

Beta is a testing stage before giving out the full product for customers !!


As long as google is not fully satisfied with gmail tests and its application development ....gmail BETA will continue .....
