Why when i delete gmail msgs from outlook 2007, they dont get deleted on my gmail? thanks?

I want to sync my home and work but see deleted messages at both places
Why when i delete gmail msgs from outlook 2007, they dont get deleted on my gmail? thanks?
To do this would then make emails you read via Outlook only available in outlook and not in Gmail anymore. You could read them in Gmail until you accessed them in Outlook.
